The Gottfried-von-Kappenberg Primary School Collects 2,585 Green Footprints for Climate Protection

 

Once again this year, the children of the Gottfried-von-Kappenberg Primary School in Wessum successfully participated in the Green Footprints Campaign. The children cycled, walked, or took the bus – leaving the car behind! For every car-free journey, they collected a Green Footprint. In total, an impressive 2,585 Footprints were collected and proudly presented to Mayor Karola Voß on October 1st.

 

"This is a great success! Your Green Footprints help improve the air quality and show how easy it is to make a difference for climate protection in everyday life", praised Voß, addressing the children’s parliament. The collected miles will be handed over by the Climate Alliance to the UN Climate Secretariat at the UN Climate Conference in Baku. This achievement not only represents a significant step for climate protection, but also symbolizes how even the youngest can take political action.

 

We say: Keep it up! And the students of the Gottfried-von-Kappenberg Primary School are already sure: next year they will participate again and show just how easy it is to make a difference for the climate.

BOCHUM 

 

During Climate Week at Don Bosco School in Bochum, a total of 2,191 Green Footprints were collected. We think that's a fantastic result! The photo from the final event can be seen in the post. Of course, the Green Footprints from Don Bosco School in Bochum will also make their way to the UN Climate Conference in Baku. Keep up the great work!

BONN

 

Montessori School Bonn diligently collects miles and shows great commitment!

 

This year, the Montessori School in Bonn once again impressively demonstrated how committed and motivated its pupils are. A total of 92 children from four groups took part in the exciting miles challenge and showed great results through their hard work. Together, the children collected an impressive 891 green, 104 red and 145 blue Footprints.

 

During the project, the children not only discovered their enthusiasm for sustainable mobility, but also learned a lot about environmental awareness and the importance of environmental protection. By collecting Footprints, they have dealt intensively with topics such as traffic, energy efficiency and the conservation of resources. It was impressive to see how creative and committed they were to finding solutions for environmentally friendly travel.

 

The wishes of the two 10-year-old pupils Sonja and Lukas deserve special mention. Sonja wants politicians to invest more in local public transport, especially buses and trains, in order to further promote environmentally friendly mobility. Lukas shares this wish and adds that more funding should also be made available for research into improving transportation and environmental technologies.

 

The Montessori School Bonn has not only gained valuable experience through its participation, but has also set a strong example for conscious and sustainable action. We congratulate everyone involved on this great success and look forward to future projects and challenges in which the children can continue to show their enthusiasm and commitment!

SOLINGEN

 

A total of 362 green, 84 red, and 84 blue Green Footprints were collected at the Löwenzahn daycare center in Solingen. During this campaign, the potential of a future greenhouse project was also discussed, particularly with regard to how plants could be grown and cared for.

 

In addition, a meeting was held with the children to find out which mode of transport they prefer to use to get to the daycare center. The children created creative crafts, including paper footprints with messages to politicians and ideas for possible climate protection measures.

 

The discussion about the greenhouse project raised the children's awareness of the importance of plants and their care. It was recognized that such projects can not only promote environmental awareness, but also teach practical skills in nature and gardening. The children showed great interest in the idea, and consideration is being given to how this project can be implemented in practice.

 

Discussing the preferred means of transportation to the daycare center encouraged the children to think about environmentally friendly alternatives and to critically reflect on their own habits. The collected ideas and messages to politicians illustrate the children's commitment to climate protection and provide valuable impetus for future measures. Keep up the good work!
