19.500 children in 86 schools  together collected 48.750 Green Footprints

This year, the Eurometropolis of Strasbourg organized its “À l’école à vélo” campaign for the ninth time in collaboration with “CADR 67 – Comité d’Action Deux Roues.”

The campaign isn’t limited to two-wheeled vehicles anymore, which also has to do with the Green Footprints Campaign, that the Eurometropolis joined 2022 for the first time. Quite some participants noted, that they were very happy to involve their walking children now as well via our campaign. So now their action is rather about promoting and celebrating any car-free way to get to school. That’s why it now is called “À l’école à vélo et compagnie – To School by Bike and More”!

From June 1 to 5, 2026, 86 schools participated, with approximately 19,500 students. During the campaign period, 50% of students walked to school, 40% rode bikes, and 10% traveled to school on scooters or even inline skates.

The total number of climate-friendly journeys is divided by the total number of students at each school to determine a winner.

These are the top five schools from this year’s campaign week:

1.Gutenberg School in Strasbourg

2.Primary School in Kolbsheim

3.Camille Hirtz Primary School in Strasbourg

4.Hohberg Primary School in Strasbourg

5. Branly Primary School in Strasbourg
