The German International School in Dubai took part for the second time this year and contributed 4,032 Footprints through climate-friendly mobility, 8,309 Energy Saving Footprints and 4,716 Footprints for action on climate-friendly food.

The children from the 16 primary school classes have been intensively working on the topics of climate and the environment. They focused on the protection of forests and oceans, for example by having a close look on what problems plastic waste causes and identifying how the deforestation of rainforests is linked to our consume of paper.
 

In some classes, the children created fantastic artworks that address the current situation on the planet and show how concerned the children are about it.

Other classes compiled their knowledge, recorded it on informative posters and presented them to the class. They also talked about how important a healthy natural environment is for our survival and together worked out what their own contributions could be to better protect our world. 

This year, the kindergarten focused on waste reduction and recycling. The children used their tablets to playfully learn how to identify which waste belongs into which bin and then put together what they had learnt on posters.

Fitting in with the subject, they started a very cool activity that will have an impact long after this year's Green Footprints Action:
The children collected plastic bottles with their parents, from which they crafted and painted small flower pots. These were then greened and sold among the school community. The funds raised will be used to buy a tree to be planted in the kindergarten.
