20 years Green Footprints - Join in!: Results > Results 2026 > Germany > Sachsen
In the city of Leipzig this year, around 3,000 children from 25 centers joined us on our journey and together contributed the following miles:
Green Miles: 38,735
Red Miles: 1,035
Blue Miles: 883
That adds up to nearly 41,000 children’s miles—a truly impressive achievement.
We’ve received separate feedback from some of the children’s and family centers regarding the “Little Climate Protectors”
The children’s and family centers in Leipzig (KiFaZ) participated this year as “Little Climate Protectors.”
In the “Climate Circle,” the children were introduced to the topic of climate protection and were able to fill out relevant worksheets and draw pictures every day. In small groups, they also explored specific topics, such as conserving water, sorting trash, and saving electricity.
At the end of the project week, the preschoolers created “wish feet” expressing their concerns to policymakers.
The “Chameleon Gang” from the “DschungelBande” daycare complex in Leipzig also traveled around the world once in September—all without flying! As part of our “Kids’ Miles” campaign, 21 children discovered floating settlements in Europe, learned about light pollution in North America, and discovered why the rainforest is so important for the climate in South America. In Australia, the focus was on heat, drought, and bushfires.
Along the way, the children collected 808 Green Miles, plus 68 Red and 62 Blue. In between, they even made their own playdough, and each child squeezed an orange. A comparison with store-bought juice showed: Homemade tastes really good!
Even weeks later, the children proudly tell us when they’ve come to daycare by bike, scooter, or on foot—and that makes us especially happy!
A total of 40,653 climate-friendly miles were collected in Leipzig. That’s the best result we’ve received from Leipzig so far! You guys are the best!
Many thanks to everyone who participated in Leipzig!
